This is a cute little pair of hand-painted early 20th century Bough plates. They have hand-painted redcurrant and blackcurrant berries on them.
Each item is fully marked to the reverse, as photographed.
The maker's initials are C.A. - for Christina (Chrissie) Amour. They are inscribed BOUGH / 422 / 1923.
CONDITION: In good condition for Bough pieces now 90 years old - with no chips or cracks. They are not large plates and only measure 4 1/2 inches in diameter. I am listing them at £15 for each plate.
HISTORY. Bough Pottery was founded by Elizabeth and Richard Amour in the 1920s. They specialized in decorating blanks - which they bought in from pottery companies in England and Scotland (many from Maling Pottery, Newcastle).
