This is fabulous Scottish paperweight made towards the end of the 20th century.

It is made by a glass artist, Sarah Peterson who was working at Caithness Glass at this time.

It is a larger size and ovoid in form - it has a height of about 5 inches.

It is called Sailing By - from the Fantasy Island series.

It is certainly an unusual weight and shows Caithness striving to keep up with modern fashions in glass design. It is really sweet - almost like a child's drawing - we see a little Scottish boat sailing in front of a turquoise blue island which rises steeply from the sea. White chopping waves are seen below - in the sky are large billowing white clouds and the sun peeps out from behind them - the rays issue over the scene in spiky lines.

The original issue price for this beautiful weight was £150.

So my asking price is certainly a very fair one - especially for the very first weight made in the edition.

It is in damage free condition, and as you can see a really fabulous example.

As it is such a large and heavy paperweight - it would sadly have to be limited to posting to the UK only.
