This is a great summer hat - or a fine hat for gardening or outdoor pursuits.
It is vintage Chinese in origin and beautifully made. It dates to the later part of the 20th Century - possibly about the 1970s or 80s - but the design is a rather timeless one.
I have a few straw / woven hats in my shop. Again - this one is a traditional design and is often worn by Asian field workers - to protect themselves from the sun.
It is a sturdy hat - the straw is covered with a hard layer of shellac to protecting it from rain or inclement weather.
It is in amazing vintage condition and is a well-made authentic handcrafted icon of Asian history. This is a fine vintage example - and in lovely condition.
It is nice and clean with no damages. The weaving is very fine and would make a great sun hat - It would have to be securely tied under your chin with ribbons to keep it secure on your head - so probably more of a quirky decorative or decorator's accessory.
Dimensions: the diameter of the base of the hat is 15 inches. The height is 7 inches.
These hats are harder to find in the UK - and are just stylish accessories for outdoor pursuits.
