This is a lovely antique cut glass hanging shade - would look good in a hallway or a bedroom.
It dates to the early 20th Century and has a stylised 1920s design. The glass shade is an original one - and not a later reproduction.
The pendant shade is a quirky acorn shape with deeply engraved geometric criss-cross decoration around the neck - as you might find on crystal glasses. The chrome (on brass) gallery holding the shade is a replacement - but is to the same design as the original one would have been. The cable simply attaches to your light connections in your ceiling rose.
The shade measures including the holder 6 3/4 inches in height. From the tip of the shade to the rim - it measures 6 1/4 inches. The diameter at the rim is 3 1/8 inches and is 4 inches in diameter at its widest point.
I love the engraved decorations cut into the clear glass of the main body section. It is very Art Nouveau in style. There are three large sun or sunflower shapes - and in between are lengths of fine vertical hanging floral garlands There is an engraved star on the base.
The shade has no condition issues - it is just really lovely and hard to find in such a condition.
I have two of these on offer for sale.
