This is a decorative old copper pot or cauldron. It is an antique piece which has been hand made - and dating to the late 19th century / early 20th century.
It has a thick copper body (tinned inside) and has thick cast steel swing handles as photographed.
It has a lovely patination of age - and having been used in the past - has a nice antique shabby chic appearance. I love the handles - which were possibly made by a blacksmith. The pot would probably have been hung on an open fire in a kitchen by the handles from a hook - and used to boil water. It has a natural antique finish - it is nice and clean.
I have owned this for many years - and until recently I have used it is a plant pot (with a ceramic liner inside. It is a well-made and heavy piece - and looks good in a period country cottage kitchen or in a parlour with a large leafy plant in it.
Listed at a fair price.
