This is certainly a fine Scottish paperweight and the design has been perennially popular and was later re-issued as a special Remembrance Day one.
This one is the original designed by the paperweight artist, Helen MacDonald and it has its title etched on the base: Red Poppy. It also has an issue number: 426190. It was originally released, as here, as part of the "Floral Charms" series.
It was a little difficult to photograph, so I hope that my images do the weight justice. The red poppy is a nice vibrant scarlet colour with the black center. The petals look papery thing. There also seems to be a slightly amber glow to the glass and there is a little mesh of controlled bubbles to the top of the crown. The weight sits on an angle with a smaller base. Their is a larger polished viewing facet to the front.
The weight is a low dome one - and it has a diameter of 2 1/2 inches and a height of about 2 1/4 inches.
It is a very pretty Scottish weight for your collection.
CONDITION REPORT: the weight is in very good vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches.
