This is another lovely Scottish brooch. It is a vintage one - with a bit of age to it - probably mid-century in date.
I have listed it as being made of white metal as there is no hallmark.
The brooch is a nice larger size: 4.5 cm in diameter.
The image on the front features a central image of a lion rampant - and he is surrounded around the rim by a band of thistles. The surrounding rim band is flooded with a blue enamel. This is in excellent condition - with no losses.
The main body of the brooch looks like it has been pressed out to the metal or take from mould - and the lion applied to the front later on during the creative process.
It has a nice old clasp and pin fitting on the reverse - the catch is a simple c-scroll. It looks great when you wear it and it is well made - and listed at a bargain price!
The idea of branding Scottish items as being British - does not seem to be a new thing - as this brooch has on the back an impressed stamp: Made in Great Britain.
