This jug come my own collection - I have two of them so I am happy to offer one of them up for sale. This has sat in my cabinet at home for over 20 years and not handled - so it is excellent vintage condition.
The jug was made by Shelley Pottery - but strangely does not the the Shelley mark on the base - but has the J&G Stewart Ltd. Made in England mark on the base.
The jug is in lovely condition with no chips or cracks. There is no staining to the interior and not crazing to the glaze. There is a little rough area to the bottom of the jug interior which occurred in the making. There is gold gilding around the rim, the handle, and the foot section, all as photographed.
The decoration is blue and white - and an English adaptation of the Willow Pattern. In the centre of both sides is a shield cartouche with the words "Liqueur / Jamie Stuart / Scotch" within. The handle is a shiny dark blue glaze with the bright gold gilding - there is a little thin white foot at the base.
It is a very collectable old whisky water jug - and these do not come up on the market that often - especially in this fine condition. This will be of interest to specialist collector's of whisky jugs or memorabilia. As mentioned - we have looked after it for years and the price is a very fair one.
Dimensions: The height is just under 5 3/4 inches. The width at the widest point is 5 inches. From handle to spout it is 5 1/4 inches. The diameter of the foot is 2 3/4 inches. The rim diameter is 3 1/8 inches.
