
This is a large 1960s cake plate or serving platter designed by the West German pottery - Grunstadt Keramik, as annotated on the base.
Grünstadt Keramik regers to ceramics produced in the tow of Gundstadt during the mid-20th century. While not a single, large-scale factory, "Grünstadt Keramik" often designates pieces produced by smaller studios and workshops in the area, The pieces are known for their distinctive designs and craftsmanship, often featuring modern, abstract patterns.
The shape is a common one produced by the pottery. It has two lugs at the side to assist you to carry the plate - and around the edge are decorative ridges. Below, there are three little applied dome shaped ceramic feet to raise the plate off your table surface.
The thing that is special about this plate is the attractive geometric pattern made up of abstracted flowers in blue and yellow. This pattern does not appear so regularly. The platter dates to the 1960s.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no damages.
It measures from lug handle to lug handle it is a massive 14 inches. The diameter is 12 1/4 inches.
