Please note that due to the figurine being made of plaster and rather heavy in weight - we must limit this to EDINBURGH area delivery or pick up only.
This is an old plaster display stand or figurine dating from the late 1930s or early 1940s.
It takes the form of a little kneeling child with curly hair. They are hunched over and carry a thick slab of tray. This tray would have originally held a square shaped glass bowl for keeping goldfish in - this fish bowl is now missing (as you often find with these models). However, that would not prevent you from getting a replacement bowl or even using the figurine to display plants on. I have taken a couple of images with a simply pyrex bowl in place - to give you an idea of what it might look like.
It is a nice large size being 53 cm in height.
My model is in good condition. The plaster is is made from has a certain fragility to it - and it tends to chip if it has not been carefully looked after over the years. My model is in lovely condition with generally no chips, cracks or losses. The paint is still nice and glossy - and the colours are from a palette much favoured in the 1940s.
There is one little bit of restoration to a chip on the child's lip - but this is well done and hardly noticeable on display. I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
A great display piece - it would certainly be a great item to place in a vintage shop window - perhaps with a little pad displaying jewellery on the tray being held.
My price reflects its size, and its good condition. Sadly - I would not be keen on posting outside of the Edinburgh area. Please enquire before checking out.
