This is a harder to find item for the collector of mid-century banks or money boxes. It takes the form of a novelty swear box where every time you uttered a profanity - you would have to put a coin into the head of the little comical man as penance.

There are the word "Temper Charges" on the top of his broad brimmed hat, above the green ribbon. Around the brim are lots of slogans - which read as follows:  “When I hear a phrase of sin you’ll straightaway put 2/- in” - “For evil words you must not say one shilling you will have to pay” - “And even for a little curse I’ll have a Penny from your purse”. I am know for my colourful language - and it would probably be filled in a day! I love it.  The coins are popped in the slot on top of his head.

The hat and main body were made in two sections and the hat applied to the face section. These are now joined and cannot be removed (otherwise it would be two easy for the "cusser" to get his penance coins back).

I also love the expressions on the face of the wee fellow - on the front is a calm face and on the back a more miserable one where he has had to stump up for swearing.

He is in pretty good condition - and dates to the 1950s. He has marked to the base that he was made by Dandan Ware / England.

The little Swear Box Man is about 14 cm in height and has a diameter of 11 cm at the widest point.

He will be sent to you with Royal Mail Tracked postage. This will be applied to your order at the check out.
