This is a very pretty little pot that you would put on your dressing table in your boudoir. It dates to the 1930s and is made a cream-beige coloured celluloid (an early hard plastic).
The little pot would contain some powders with a puff on top - or perhaps some creme lotions. It currently has no contents. It is perfectly clean with no chips, cracks or damages, and no staining ... as good as the day that it was made - and that was nearly 100 years ago!
The lidded pot or bowl is very Art Deco in style and decoration. The lid has an image of the Moon Goddess, Diana. She is shown in Classicial profile as you might find on a cameo. She has her hair tied back and wears a diadem topped with a cresent moon - her symbol as Moon Goddess. There is also a little leaping deer in front of her which symbolizes here other role as Goddess of Hunting.
The pot measures just under 4 1/4 inches in diameter and with a height of 2 inches.
