These are very rare examples of Bridgeness or Bo'ness Pottery cats.
You more readily find dogs, lions or horses - and it is much more difficult to find such a fine pair of antique cats.
I am very lucky and have two pairs in my shop. This pair with the blue coloured bows - and another with pink bows.
These cats are a true matching pair (facing opposite directions) - with green glass eyes.
They are both in fairly fine antique condition - one cat (the left-hand one) has sadly an old and fine hairline crack which runs around his ear and along the top of his head and down the back of his neck as photographed. And there is an opening of the side seam again, dating to the firing. The hairline was probably done not long after the making of the cat - and this issue remains stable and it is certainly not obvious when on display. Obviously, the cats will be priced well down to take this into consideration.
UPDATE: I have further reduced the price down to £140 in Sept 2025.
The other one is in purrrr-fect condition.
They are almost life-size - being each 12 inches in height. The width at the base is 8 inches. The depth is about 4 1/2 inches.
There are no maker's marks on these - but they come from the same mould as my other cats (they are marked to the base with a registration number: No. 52339).
They will be sent with Parcelforce24- and this is a tracked and signed for service. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
