This is a fine pair of antique Victorian Staffordshire dogs - they take the form of a pair of seated chimney spaniels.
They are genuine Victorian examples, and definitely NOT reproductions.
They are certainly nicely modelled examples and a nice large size - love the big feathery tails on this model. They are a matched pair, as created.
Each dog is generally good antique condition and both display well.
There are a couple of minor condition issues with these ones. There is a fine hairline crack on the base of one dog - to the surface to the figurine and not all the way through - it is stable and commensurate with age. There is also a little opening to the seam on the top of the head of one dog - as in the making and more of a flaw than damage - this is stable and has been photographed by me. Finally, there is a tiny crack above the eye on one of the dogs - again as photographed.
They are an attractive pair and will look fabulous on a country kitchen dresser or on a fireplace in a Victorian parlour.
These are a nice domestic size. Height: 12 inches. Width: about 9 inches. The pair are over 2kg in weight.
