This is a nice pair of decanters for more formal drinks and dining. Please see my other Star of Edinburgh listings for glasses which might match this decanter.
They are great for serving whisky in the larger one - and perhaps with still water in the smaller one. The smaller one is harder to find. These ones have an etched signature. The design is illustrated on page 79 of the book "The Story of Edinburgh Crystal" by H.W. Woodward (as photographed).
The neck of each decanter has polished facets which rise up the neck towards the flared rim. Around the base of the decanters is the traditional Star of Edinburgh pattern. The base have a deeply engraved star shape. The stoppers are original to the decanter and are more unusual flattened floral ones.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection. It is great to find a larger and smaller matched pair.
The larger one is 8 1/4 inches in height and is 4 1/2 inches square. The smaller one is 6 3/4 inches in height and is 3 1/4 inches in diameter.
The decanters are being sold as being nice and clean. They have no damage and the interior is not clouded.
I believe this mallet shape is officially classified as a whisky decanter by Edinburgh Crystal- but it would certainly be most suitable for decanting fine red wines or clarets.
I am pricing the larger decanter at £30 and the smaller one at £20.
Due to the weight of the pair - these would have to be sent to you as a medium parcel - with Royal Mail Tracked post. This would be applied to your order at the checkout.
