This is another little antique German souvenir figurine that I have listed on my site. It dates to the 1920s and has an impressed German mark on the base and the registration number 4451. It is unusual for one of these to be marked German as they were often only annotated as being "foreign". Many were not marked at this time so soon after WWI, and not many people were keen on buying German productions in the UK.
It is very much of its time and perhaps more of historical interest rather than aesthetic appeal. This one is a Heather Ware item. It features a little bathing belle in her swimsuit sitting on the back of a giant turtle. His shells is decorated with a sprig of lucky white heather. And the words "From Edinburgh". You would have bought these on your holidays to Scotland in the 1920s and taken them home as a souvenir of your trip - or as a wee gift for a friend.
The Germans had a well-established manufacturer of such souvenir and crested ware goods.
My figurine is made of fine bone china and in excellent condition with no damage. Given that it is now an antique and over 100 years old - it is remarkable that it is in such lovely condition.
The figurine is 3 1/4 inches in height - with a length of 4 inches and a depth of 2 1/2 inches.
This is a more unusual example and I am listing it at £30.
Postage in the UK will be with Royal Mail Recorded. This will be £5.50 and applied to your order at the checkout.
