This is a lovely 1930s Art Deco Czechoslovakian Sculptural Bowl by Ditmar Urbach.
It features a lonesome polar bear standing on green rocks and looking into a pool below. The bear in question is Nora - who was the first polar bear in the Prague Zoo in the 30s.
You can use this lovely bowl to keep fruit in - or perhaps put a mirror into the bottom of her rocky pool and show her looking at her reflection in the water.
It is a nice large size for display and measures about 7 inches in height. The base measures 8 inches x 7 1/2 inches. Weight unpacked is 1.6 kg
It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
It has the Urbach Czechoslovakia mark on the base. This one is nicely decorated with painterly shiny glazes of aqua, grey and blue tones on the rocky pool. The bear has black tips to his ears, grey paws and a grey stripe along his back. It is certainly a lovely model. There are a few little pieces of felt applied to the edge of the model on the base. These were applied some time ago - and the intention of adding them was to stop the ceramic scratching your furniture. I can remove these easily for you if you wish.
Sadly, this lovely bear would be for UK posting only. To make sure it is safe in transit - Mrs Nora Bear will be posted in a large box - with Parcelforce24. This will cost just over £10 and applied to your order at the checkout.
