This is a little 1930s Art Deco Little Serving Cup with Lid & original under-saucer is now very hard to source.
This is reflected in my asking price for this item - as you will have to look for quite some time to find other examples.
I have had three in my store - but sold two of them, so now only this one is left in stock.
The dimensions are handle to handle 5 3/4 inches. The diameter of the top of the cup is 4 inches - the bottom is a slender 2 inches. The overall height including the lid is about 4 1/4 inches. The diameter of the saucer is 6 1/4 inches.
It comes in the dynamic orange-red and black variant of the geometric Tango Pattern. - this is very reminiscent of Russian Constructivist designs.
This is a more everyday version of the pattern as it is made of ceramic and the pattern is not embellished with gold. The pattern is transfer printed over-glaze and it is probably recommended that the plates are gently hand-washed and never put in a dishwasher. The over-printed design can be susceptible to wear - these ones are generally without issues.
As previously mentioned, this is a harder-to-find piece of Doulton Tango ware and has no chips and hardly any cutlery marks on the surface. As you can see the glaze on each dish is very glossy and shiny.
There is on the base of each piece the Royal Doulton factory stamp, the Lion, Crown and Knot, the word “TANGO” and a handwritten design number.
UK Postage will be £5.50 with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery post. This will be applied to your order at checkout. I have other items in this pattern and I can offer good postal discounts for more than one item.
