This is an unusual antique pewter dish by the Danish designer, Just Andersen (1884 - 1943).
As a sculptor and silversmith, he is best known for his neoclassic Scandinavian design of articles for everyday use in pewter, brass, copper, and bronze. He started his own workshop in 1918, which his widow continues to run until the mid 1940s.
In the 1920s and 30s, he worked for the Swedish companies Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) and Guldsmedsaktiebolaget (GAB) in Stockholm.
Just Andersen is probably the most recognized designer of modern pewter in Denmark.
This little dish is very cute with its carefully observed model of a squirrel holding a little nut or acorn in front of him.
It is 6 inches in diameter and with an overall height of 7cm.
It is marked on the base with the Just triangle and the word Denmark.
It is 225 grams in weight.
It has a nice patina of age - and in good condition with no damages.
An unusual little piece of decorative Danish pewter.
