This is a highly collectable 1930s foil powder compact which was made by the famous Gwenda Company.
The compact is a nice large size for containing face powder- and designed to fit into am evening bag of a flapper. It is just under 3 inches in diameter.
The compact is made of metal - and has a special tap flap "non-spill" mechanism inside.
The top of the compact shows a Deco design of a beautiful lady walking in a garden with little white flowers - there are dark silhouettes of trees in the background. There are little silver glitter highlights to the design in the dress and flowers - and the sky in the background is made of shiny silver foil. You cant see the glitter inclusions in my images - but they do twinkle when turned to the light.
There is a little silver cover inside - which covers the powder, inside - you tap the central disk and it lowers slightly to allow you to access the powder below.
The base of the compact is a peppermint green colour - it is scuff-free and without blemish.
This compact has never been used - and it even still has its original powder puff inside - and again clean and unused.
Everything in lovely condition - the compact hinges work perfectly. The inside of the lid is polished steel with a mirror finish. There is a little finger catch on the base to allow you to open it easily.
As nice an example and as you might expect to see - this is reflected in my asking price here.
