A rare Royal Doulton water jug manufactured for King George IV Old Scotch Whisky.
The style of the jug is typical of an early 19th antique century shape, which was once manufactured by Goodwin & Harris, c.1830.
The jug is in excellent condition with no chips or damages. Just the lightest of crazing to the glaze not noticeable unless on close up inspection in a raking light. These jugs often have this issue and this is commensurate with age and the type of glaze used by Doulton on these jugs - it is certainly not disfiguring.
Any other bright white marks on the jug are simply reflections on my photographs and are not marks on the jug
The jug has a portrait of the King George IV, his dates of birth and death and his ascension to the throne.
Printed in script beneath the spout, in red ink: With the compliments of the Proprietors of “King George IV” Old Scotch Whisky
There is the usual Doulton mark to the base, also in red and black - “King George IV Whisky” – The “Scotch” of Good Taste.
6 inches tall to the tip of the handle, and from handle to spout it is 6 1/4 inches.
