This is a very collectable early 1930s Shelley Pottery Baby's Plate.
I have four of these bone china plates listed - of matching size - but with different decoration listed on my website, as photographed.
It is an piece of antique British ceramics. And it is in pretty good condition for a nursery item nearly 100 years old. I think that it dates to around 1935 and has the early Shelley pottery mark on the back,
The image on the center of the wee plate is by Mabel Lucie Attwell. The decoration shows a little girl in a red polka dot dress. She is pushing a garden wheelbarrow with a large donkey inside it. She is aided in this task by a little green Boo Boo pushing the back wheel and two pulling from the front.
There is text in the top corner. This reads: I had a Donkey and a Cart / To Take me for a Ride / He Looked so Sad, I Simply had / To Put Old Donk Inside.
These early Shelly Nursery Plates are very collectable, and this one is in excellent condition. This is reflected in my asking price - it looks good on display.
