You more often find these vintage handkerchief vases made of glass either by Venini at the top end of the market - or in Britain by Chance Glass at the lower end.
This one, however, is a very hard to find large ceramic example made by Arthur Wood, as annotated on the base.
It is white outside and a glossy scarlet red inside.
It is in perfect condition with no damages or restorations.
It looks simply fabulous on display.
It is a nice large centrepiece size - having a height of about 6 1/2 inches - and the diameter at the widest point is 8 1/2 inches.
