This is a fabulous large serving platter. It dates to the late 1950s.
It is oval in shape with indentations or sections where you can put difference ingredients to nibble in. You could use as a serving platter on a dining room table and put a selection of vegetables in each segment; or perhaps at a cocktail party with little dips in the central reservoir - and crudites and chips arranged around the outside.
It is stamped on the base: Italy
The decoration is quite organic in form and to me, it looks like entwined fronds of seaweed. It is certainly a most organic pattern and all painted by hand.
It is a large platter measuring14 1/2 by 12 inches. 1.2 kg in weight unpacked. It is in good vintage condition.
