This is a fabulous mid-century set of six little Midwinter side plates. These are rare survivors and this is reflected in my asking price.

On offer is the set of SIX wee plates as photographed.

The set has a fabulous geometric pattern and the design is called FANTASY.

I have a small selection of Fantasy serving plates and bowls etc in my Iconic Edinburgh online store - I would look at getting good postage quotes for you if you wish more than one item from my shop.

The pattern was designed in 1953 by the celebrated British ceramic designer, Jessie Tait (1928 - 2010) for Midwinter. She first worked as a junior designer to Charlotte Rhead, and then as a designer for the Midwinter Pottery between 1946 and 1974.

At Midwinter, Tait created a host of Innovative abstract designs including Fantasy, which had a central design of swirling lines and spirals recalling motifs by Joan Miró against a grey cross-hatched ground.

Many of her fabulous designs were mass-produced by the Midwinter Pottery on dinner services, and tea and coffee sets. In the 1950s these were hand-painted, and well-known designs included 'Red Domino' and 'Zambesi'. Her style was often detailed and geometric.

As you can see - this is a really stylish and highly collectable pattern - and this atomic Fantasy pattern is now becoming a much harder to find one.

The side plates are all in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks.

Dimensions: diameter of each plate is just over 7 1/2 inches.

They have a bit of weight to them - hence my postage quote - if you would like other items - then I would be able to cap the postage at £10 for you for UK postage.
