These mid-century dishes, designed by the celebrated Norwegian ceramic designer, Inger Waage for Stavangerflint, are now highly collectable.
This dish dates to the 1950s and is fully marked to the base. Her work is featured in a comprehensive study of her work "Inger Waage: Design for Stavangerflint 1953 - 1979)". This tome was published by Jan Gjerde in Norwegian - with the inclusion of a short English summary.
This charming little plate is decorated with a stylized yellow rooster with claret coxcomb. There is a large green leaf above him - with blue, black and white geometric shapes to the left.. The design would have been initially applied with a screen and subsequently hand-painted - so each one is unique.
It is in excellent condition and measures 5 inches square. These painterly works by Inger Waage are much sought after and this is reflected in my asking price.
