This is an attractive piece of vintage Scottish glassware.
This is a lovely opaque yellow glass bowl with black flecks and random dots of bright colours in the vortex of each swirl. It was made by Strathearn Glass.
The company operated from 1965 to 1980, taking over from the Vasart glassworks, although during the cross-over some designs remained very much the same - see my earlier yellow tulip lamp. Strathearn was then purchased by Stuart and Sons, and renamed Stuart Strathearn Ltd. It operated until 1992, when all glass production ceased and the factory closed.
My bowl is in excellent condition with no damages. Any white marks on my photos are not on the glass - but as caused by reflections, the glass is very shiny! The bowl has a pontil mark on the base and on this is an impressed Leaping Salmon mark. It is 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches in height. There is a raised dome section in the center of the bowl.
