This is a collectable Stig Lindberg (1916 - 1982) Ranka pattern lidded bowl for Gustavsberg, Sweden. During the 1950s and 1960s, Stig Lindberg was one of the most prominent Swedish designers. Today, his work is highly coveted, and even simple pieces of his ceramics generate high prices.
This more simple and rather minimalist design by Lindberg. The Ranka pattern has hand-painted decoration on porcelain and it was a design in production from 1942 to 1965.
My dish features a green Gustavsberg anchor mark and no impressed letters in the clay on the base. This will help date this piece to have been created between the mid-1950s and 1965. This piece is a lidded serving dish or "karott" serving dish. It has a harder to find piece of Swedish pottery.
This serving dish has a circular lower bowl section with three notches (for spoon handles?) on the rim. It has decorative horizontal ribbing around the outside. The lid is decorated around the circumference with the simple floral pattern and has a little cone shaped knop.
I am also listed a Ranka gravy boat to go with this little serving dish.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
