This is another lovely vintage paperweight. It was made in Scotland, by Vasart Glass in the late 1950s / early 1960s. The glass dome has a more grey tone to the glass, rather than being crystal clear, This grey tone is often found in Vasart weights. Also, it makes it very easy for me to positively identify this weight, as it still has its original black and silver label.
Vasart colours are always so pretty. This one has a dark aqua green ground, into which the millefiori canes have been carefully placed.
There is a central orange rosette - surrounded by pale blue, pale pink and bluebell blue canes. These have been placed in concentric circles from the centre to the outer rim. There are seven fine ribbon latticino canes forming half-length spokes
The diameter at the widest point is 2 1/4 inches and the height is just over 1 3/4 inches. Fair price for this fine vintage 1950s Scottish paperweight.
