This fine oval bowl is perhaps the most stunning piece of 1960s Chelsea pieces that I am listing on my webstore. I have another two smaller ones available.
This piece is made of terracotta clay and its is quite thick and sturdy. It has three little applied feet on the base - so the shallow bowl stands off your table surface.
Again, it shows a stylised prancing horse. The horse has a more decorative saddle with pink diamond shapes and mustard-coloured border and a flowing white mane and tail. The horse is painted with a very glossy paint and then fired. It is hand-decorated and is such a sweet piece of mid-century Art Pottery. I love the horse's little "twiggy" legs. The quality of the painting would suggest that it might be a piece by Joyce Morgan. There is a monogram to the bottom of the design, as photographed.
It is in perfect condition with no damage. It is signed on the base, as photographed. These vintage horse designs are harder ones to find - and this is reflected in my asking price. The bowls are also rare pieces and you probably wont find one much nicer that this one.
The length is 11 inches. The width is 6 3/4 inches and the height is about 2 inches. It is 900 grams unpacked.
The plate will be posted in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded (Small Parcel) mail. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
