I love this fabulous vintage 1960s flying saucer shape pendant lamp shade.
It is unmarked with any maker's mark - but it is certainly very much inspired by Danish design and lamps of this period.
It looks very similar to a 1960s Diskos pendant shade designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Morup - but my one does not have the circle of slots on the top.
It is a fine piece which I have owned for many years - and it has been stored for the last 20 years up in the loft. Lockdown projects have suggested that sorting of all my collection in the loft might be a good task to undertake just now.
So have a number of pendant lights, shades, and table lamps coming down and straight onto my Iconic Edinburgh store. So all completely fresh to the marketplace.
This is a very classic mid-century design. The shade is made of a thin (and therefore lightweight!) aluminum which has been coated on the outside thin layer of anodized copper to give a rich copper finish. The inside is sprayed white to reflect the light down.
The shade takes two smaller-sized bulbs, back to back (which I have photographed and shown on my website listing). The electric cable comes out of a cute thin metal tube section attached to the main external body.
The lamp comes with a copper cap which is intended to cover the ceiling rose.
The shade also has its original white diffuser, as photographed.
It is in good vintage condition - it has no dents or nasty scratches to the metalwork of the shade and no damages to the diffuser either.
It is nice and slim - like a large flat discus.
More images are available as mentioned.
The dimensions are as follows: 18 1/2 inches in diameter. It is 5 inches in height - and with an overall drop of 18 inches. It might be prudent with all vintage electrical items to have it quickly checked over by an electrician and they will run a PAT test on it for you.
It will be sent to you with Parcelforce48. Sadly, UK posting only
