The glazes on this vintage West German vase are fabulous. It dates to the later 1960s / early 1970s. It is has the crossed swords mark of the base for the Westt German pottery, Dumler & Breiden. It is has a pattern number on the base - but it is infilled with the red glaze - and difficult to make out. I have photographed it for your inspection. The first three numbers are 484. and the second number might be 25.
Dumler & Breiden were one of West Germany's leading mid-century ceramic companies. They produced a wide range of forms and glazes of good quality, using white clay and their pots often featured quirky styles, glazes and colours. The company closed in 1992.
The height of the vase is 10 inches and the diameter is 6 inches. It is 1.4 kg in weight. It is in excellent condition with no damages or any kind.
As you can see from my photographs it has a fabulous abstract pattern and lots of textures. The interior is a glossy dark brown / black glaze. The exterior has bands of different glazes which run down the sides of the pot. The top is a specled beige colour with a thick bakn of dark being and glossy dark brown glazes Further down is a darker dribbling band a thick application of the glaze with lots of small lava bubbles in it. The dark fingers of glaze run into a glossy red (in two different shade) contained around the base section. It is quite stunning and looks fabulous on display.
