This is a most collectable 1960s Midwinter Everglade pattern lidded tureen or shallow lidded serving dish.
The pattern is on a shape designed by the Marquis of Queensberry. and is similar to other lidded dishes in the range.
The pattern is very understated - with vertical bands of blue and olive green around the side and with a floral pattern applied to the bands. I love the little atomic pattern on the top of the knop of the lid.
The lidded serving dish is in good vintage condition with no damages. It is listed at a fair price. There seems to be a new interest in British ceramics of the early 1960s, and no doubt prices will go up - time to bag a bargain!
Jessie Tait (1928 - 2010) studied at the Burslem School of Art. She first worked as a junior designer to Charlotte Rhead and then as a designer for the Midwinter Pottery between 1946 and 1974.
With the usual Midwinter Stylecraft mark on the base as photographed.
The tureen is 10 inches from handle to change and has a diameter of just over 8 1/4 inches. The height is 2 1/2 inches in height.
The postage on this lidded dish will with Royal Mail Post in the UK. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
