This is a fabulous West German vase with a handle to one side.
It is a beautiful shape and also an exceptionally large size. It was designed by Kurt Tschoerner.
It was made by Ruscha pottery in the 1960s and is decorated all over with a black lava like glaze - the glaze is all lumps and bumps - and has the most beautiful and very subtle undertones of blue blush and purple .mottled hues. There are cobalt blue or teal coloured dot splashes running around the middle section
The glaze is very thick and it textured like fat lava... it is from the Antik series. This is model No. 62 - as annotated on the base. It is signed to the base: Ruscha Handarbeit . This vase is part of Ruscha’s line of studio pottery.
A lovely organic shape. It pot measures roughly 7 3/4 inches in diameter at the widest point and has a height of 6 3/4 inches.
A bit of a beast - and it weighs 1.5 kg
In excellent condition, with no damages.
A great display piece.
Sadly, the size would restrict me to posting this only to addresses in the UK. I will be using Parcelforce48 to post to you.
