This is a lovely little vintage Sommerso geode Italian glass bowl. It is in just excellent clean condition with no signs of use and no damage of any kind.
I love these little geometric chunky bowls. This one is a more unusual example as it is oval in shape. It is made up of elongated, fan-shaped facets - which expand from a narrower based and flare out towards the top.
The interior colour is a rich cobalt blue and it is cased with a thin layer of yellow glass and on the outside with a thick layer of crystal clear glass.
It has been a little tricky to photograph with all the angles in this piece - any white marks in my photographs are not on the glass - but are simply reflections. It certainly looks much better in "real life" than in my photographs.
A nice size for display - measuring 5 1/2 inches in length - with a width of 4 3/4 inches and with a height of approximately 2 inches.
It is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. It is a fine addition to any collection of sommerso glass. I have added a photograph here of this pretty oval bowl with the simpler square shaped one that is also available on the website.
