This is a vintage Swedish stainless steel ashtray which has hard black plastic inserts.
These 1960s / 1970s ashtrays are very sculptural items with a stainless base with three black plastic semi-circular "fingers" rising from the base. The top has circles cut into the domed area and these can twist about revealing a round window when in the open position. When they are twisted to closed, they are backfilled by the black plastic below, all as photographed.
The orb shape is very space age; atomic in design.
It is just over 3 1/2 inches in height with a diameter of about 4 inches.
As you can see from my photographs - I have two of these in stock. Both now sold.
I have actually personally owned these in my own collection for many years. They have always been looked after. Both are nice and clean with no evidence of either ever having been used. You could perhaps pop some potpourri inside now and use it to keep the air fresh in your interior.
