This is a fabulous West German vase.
It was made by Carstens pottery in the 1960s and is decorated all over with a bright red underglaze glaze with a mottled black glaze (rather like a wax resist texture) on the top of this - in thinner layers which all run down the sides.
A beautiful and very interesting glaze on this fine geometric shape.
The shape number is 0004-22.
It is fully marked to the base - as photographed
This fine German vase is 8 3/4 inches in height - and with a diameter at the widest point of 4 1/2 inches.
In excellent condition, with no damages. Weight unpacked is 900 grams.
To keep safe in transit - I would have to send this as a medium-sized parcel; slightly more expensive than a small one - but certainly a lot safer for you.
