This is a lovely Scottish St Magnus inspired silver pendant.
It is signed MG and has is marked 925. I would guess that it probably dates to the mid-1980s. It is one of Malcolm Gray's stylish designs for Ortak, It is certainly a small and intricately made work by him. I love all the little trefoil shapes in each corner section.
The Ortak company was originally founded in the late sixties by Malcolm Gray in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. The company grew steadily to become one of the UK's leading manufacturers and designers of fine silver and gold jewellery.
It is only 2 cm square. It has a nice thicker chain on it - with a drop of 27 cms. It has a ring clasp fittment.
It is nice and shiny and will be sent to you in a little card gift box.
Vintage Ortak pieces are now becoming highly collectable. This is a fair price for this lovely Scottish silver designer pendant - with such a nice sturdy chain on it.
