This is a rare survivor - and it comes from a small selection of vintage Olympics paraphernalia which I have on offer in my Iconic Edinburgh online store.
This is a very rare softcover book which details and celebrates all the running events at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games.
It was published in 1972 by Runner's World for World Publications.
This book just focusses on the running events at Munich.
Please also see my original vintage posters in my store for these games.
A paragraph on the back cover sets out what is detailed inside: - saying that it "digs under the statistical surface and gets inside the heads of the people most involved ... We've concentrated here on reporting the character, significance, colour and mood of the Games, and on putting them into some kind of perspective". The book contains a full chapter of analytical material ... separate articles on all men's and women's track and field events... nearly 100 outstanding action photographs.
The front cover shows Heide Rosendahl winning the 400-meter relay for West Germany - and perhaps the star of the games - the great Lasse Viren winning the 5000 meters race.
The report measures 28 x 21.5 cm and it has 96 pages in total.
In excellent vintage condition with no tears, creases or previous owner descriptions.
