This is a very collectable vintage Glasform globular glass ball or orb. It was designed by John Ditchfield and dates to the 1980s.
It has a gold paper Glassfrom sticker on the base. In the centre is number 01253 / 893020. This is the number of the Glasform Studio.
These hanging irridescent glass baubles seem to be very hard to find. And are not listed on the Dutchfield site.
This is a certainly great bauble for a Ditchfield collector to hang in their window at Christmas. It is a lovely piece of vintage Ditchfield glass. These glass hanging baubles are now rare survivors and much sought-after. This is reflected in my asking price.
The main body colour is beautful dark cerise pink. The bady is ribbed all around with subtle raised ribbon sections. Running around the ball, in a horizontal direction there are 12 roses ot purple. These issue from a spiral on the base. The whole ball is coloured with a golden lustre sheeen which glistens in the light. This lustre is typical of Ditchfield glasswares. At the top of the ball is a thick applied clear glass hanging hoop. It is threaded with a little ball chain which allows you to hang the ball.
It is in perfect condition with no damages.
Dimensions. The height about 6 inches including the hoop and diameter at the widest is about 5 inches.
