This is a very collectable vintage Glasform globular glass ball or orb. It was designed by John Ditchfield and dates to the 1980s.
It has a gold paper Glassfrom sticker on the base. In the centre is number 01253 / 893020. This is the number of the Glasform Studio.
These hanging irridescent glass baubles seem to be very hard to find. And are not listed on the Dutchfield site.
This is a certainly great bauble for a Ditchfield collector to hang in their window at Christmas. It is a lovely piece of vintage Ditchfield glass. These glass hanging baubles are now rare survivors and much sought-after. This is reflected in my asking price.
The main body colour is dark purple. The bdy is ribbed all around with subtle raised ribbon sections. The main body colour is a plain with tiny specks. The whole ball is coloured with a golden lustre sheen which glistens in the light. This lustre is typical of Ditchfield glasswares. At the top of the ball is a thick applied clear glass hanging hoop. It is threaded with a little silver ribbon which allows you to hang the ball.
It is in perfect condition with no damages.
Dimensions. The height is about 4 3/4 inches including the hoop and diameter at the widest is about 3 3/4 inches.
