This is a lovely vintage candle holder that dates to 1984 and was made as a piece of Scandinavian glass to celebrate the 1984 Olympic Games.
The Summer Games were held in Los Angeles - and the Winter Games at Sarajevo (where Tovill & Dean won the Ice Dancing Competition).
The candleholder / candlestick was designed by Lars Hellsten for Orrefors, Sweden - and takes the form of the burner or torch for the Olympics flame.
These candleholders must have been made for the Winter Games, and look as if they have been made from blocks of solid ice - certainly not so appropriate for the heat of the Summer Games which were held in Los Angeles.
The candlestick has the Olympic rings on the bottom as decoration - as photographed.
The candle holder measures 5 inches in height and 4 3/4 inches in diameter across the top. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or damages.
PLEASE NOTE: I had two of these in stock - but the one with the wee paper label was sold in Feb. 2021 - so now only the one is available.
