This charming little watercolour and gouache painting is typical of the work made by the Scottish contemporary artist, Richard Norman in the 1990s. His work regularly goes through auction houses such as Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh.
It is a painting showing a Gothic church illuminated at night by the milky light coming from the cresent moon. The sky is a dark blue colour. The church looks a little spooky and this is emphasised by the placement of three headstones in the foreground.
It is signed bottom right in gouche by brush: R. NORMAN '95.
