This is a very collectable and fine example of the pine Norwegian Porridge or Groat pot.
It has a handled lid held in place by a wooden toggle. The pine staves making up the main body of the pot are held in place by two twin bands of willow (as often found on similar Scottish examples).
The main body and lid is decorated with carved pin decoration. The base is lighter in shade and has a simple, lightly card flower head.
The colour of the wood is delightful and the box is in such excellent condition. You dont seen them as nice as this one that often.
This come from my own collection and I have owned it for many years and taken great care of it. It will be a sad parting if it is sold.
