This is a fine mid-20th century bronze figurine of a Nigerian woman. She holds in her hand a short stick which she will use to grind up grain.
It is finely modelled and has a lovely rich patina commensurate with its age.
It was certainly not "made yesterday" and it is a fine piece.
It comes from the Benin area of Nigeria in Africa - where similar metal figures that been made for centuries.
This one is a nice size for domestic display - and measures 8 1/4 inches in height.
Heavy piece - as you might a piece made of solid bronze. It has an unpacked weight of just over 1kg.
It is in good vintage condition - it might have stood once on a more substantial base - but it would be easy to pop a new base on this fine model for display. She does stand upright on his own as is - but has a wee bit of a wobble factor. Makes a fine pair with my other bronze which I have listed - could offer free posting for the pair.
I have taken a number of photographs for your inspection - more can be sent for serious interest.
I CAN POST INTERNATIONALLY, PLEASE ASK FOR A POSTAGE QUOTE OUTSIDE OF THE UK.
Sadly, I would not be unable to post both internationally.
