This is a very attractive genuine antique desk or table lamp in the Art Nouveau Style.
It is in beautiful condition - with the brass all shiny, polished, and lacquered.
This one is top-quality and has not been made from cast brass - but has been all hand-made by a craftsman.
It has a dark gold coloured twisted cloth electric cable - and original grommet. The light has been re-wired and it is earthed for safety.
The lamp stands straight and upright - and it cannot be angled or moved about in multiple directions.
The base section is made up of a circular band of brass - and attached to this band are three undulating feet - these feet are very reminiscent of the type of foliate feet that you might see on similar lamps designed by WAS Benson.
There is an impressed mark on the base HB.
The base looks a little like a crown shape. The three feet meet above the centre of the base-band - and then join and sweep upwards - there is a bulbous tear-shaped joint and above the stem has a barley sugar twist. At the top is a brass bulb holder - this has an old on / off finger switch - with red and black bakelite covers on each tip.
The shade is in excellent condition with no damages - it is made of fine cranberry coloured glass - with a frilly undulating rim - it looks like a large flower head. The pink tone of the shade gives off a lovely warm pink blush tone when lit up.
A nice large size to light up a dark corner in a room or on a desk or dressing table - it is a really attractive old lamp - and in such lovely clean condition - you won't find a nicer one easily.
Dimensions: overall height including lamp and shade is 18 1/4 inches (46 cm). The height of the lamp itself is 14 1/2 inches including the bulb holder. The diameter of the circular base is 4 3/4 inches.
