These little photograph frames were very popular in the Victorian era. They are now quite rare survivors.
The frame is about about 150 years old and is made of cast brass to resemble a linked chain. This forms the decorative border of the frame. My one has its glass - and an easel stand section at the back so that you can simply pop in a photograph and display it in the frame on your bureau or drawers.
It has a diameter of 3 3/4 inches.
As you can see from my photographs - this one is in nice condition - and more unusual being round. This one is nice with the chain links being more finely made.
