This is a fine wee set of three antique brass weights probably dating to the early 20th century.
They are fantastic pieces of old kitchenalia that look great on display in a country-style kitchen.
The weights are as follows: One weight at 7 lbs; The next size down is 4 lbs and the smallest one is 2 lbs. The weight indicators are impressed into the brass handles at the top.
They have been made by H. Pooley of Liverpool and marked on the top of the main body section. Henry Pooley & Son Ltd was a mechanical engineering company that specialized in the manufacture of weighing machines and weights. They were formed in the 18th century and were initially based in Liverpool, before relocating to Birmingham. In 1913 the firm became part of the Avery organization but continued as a separate firm
They are in very nice antique condition. Great display pieces - and handy wee group if you have a set of old-fashioned kitchen scales.
