This is an interesting ethnographical item - a Naga Dao Ceremonial Sword.
The blade is made of thick steel which is finished with a dull matt silver tone paint.
The blade is heavy - but it is not sharp - so it would not cut you or be considered a weapon, as such. I would imagine that it is for more ceremonial events and display in processions etc. It has a wooden handle with is bound with woven cane or reeds. At the end, it is embellished with long strands of bright scarlet red hair.
The total length is 30 1/2 inches. The blade is 3 3/4 inches at the widest point.
I have two of these Naga collectables available in my store, as well as a Nagaland Brass Necklace.
This Dao is in very good antique condition with no damages - the cane work / rattan handle is in damage-free condition, as photographed.
These old Burmese tribal pieces are harder to fine - this is reflected in my asking price. It looks fabulous on display. Please note that this is most definitely NOT a weapon and that the blade has no cutting edges.
