This is a pretty little portrait miniature in its original 19th-century black wooden frame - which has a sweet little acorn and hanging loop at the top.
The miniature portrait is contained in an oval frame that is glazed and with a thin brass trim around the circumference. It is in good antique condition - with no signs of fading to the portrait. The frame is in good condition - this one as a wee scuff to the top (as photographed) - but a cute weel thing to hang in a period interior.
Dimensions: black frame is 13 x 11 cm. The oval brass section is 9 x 7.3 cm.
I have another miniature of the same size and by the same hand in my Iconic Edinburgh online store - they are probably images of a mother and her daughter.
They are competently painted in watercolour - but sadly neither are signed - so rather more difficult to attach an attribution to the painter.
